The Nonprofit Security Grant Program (NSGP) is a U.S. Department of Homeland Security program that awards up to $200,000 per building — and up to $600,000 per organization — to eligible nonprofits. Faith-based organizations, including churches of all sizes and denominations, are among the most consistently funded applicants in the program.
Despite that, most church leaders have never heard of it. Some assume the application process is too complicated to navigate without government experience. Others assume their congregation is too small to qualify. Both of those assumptions are wrong.
